Six taken to hospital after Garrison collison involving two motorcycles and a car
By Danielle De Souza
GARRISON — Two Dutchess County men are in stable condition today at the Westchester Medical Center after their motorcycles collided with a car Wednesday on Route 9D, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
In all, six people were injured in the 5:40 p.m. accident on Route 9D south of the Highlands Country Club, Capt. William McNamara said.
Preliminary reports indicate that a Toyota driven by Elicet M. Burgos-Cruz, 46, of Suffern was heading north on 9D when she turned left into a side street and collided with two southbound motorcycles driven by Jake McBride, 18, of Fishkill and Shane Haley, 19, of Wappingers Falls.
Both men were thrown from their motorcycles after colliding with the Toyota, the model of which was not available.
Haley was flown to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla while McBride was taken there by ambulance, police said.
Burgos-Cruz and three unidentified passengers in her car were taken by ambulance to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, where they were treated for minor injuries and released, McNamara said.
No charges were filed, although the accident remains under investigation today by the Sheriff's accident-reconstruction team.
